Greville Street and the Prahran Market
For a cool alternative, detour to Greville Street for offbeat retro clothing and streetwear, jewellery and record stores. For fantastic fresh fruit, vegetables, seafood, meat and deli items, don't miss the Prahran Market on Commercial Road, open on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from dawn to 6pm and on Sundays from 10am to 3pm.

Nearby High Street is also well known for understated sophistication with specialist shops and boutiques.

This entire area is as much about people-watching as it is about fashion. Peruse the passing parade at a cool bar, cafe or restaurant on and around Chapel Street such as the Globe Cafe, the Pound, Fog Bar and Restaurant and Ay Oriental Tea House or cc gaia, Da Noi, France-Soir, Harveys Restaurant and Sel de la Terre around Toorak Road.

After dark Prahran starts pumping with music venues Revolver Upstairs, White Charlie, Lucky Coq, OneSixOne and Boutique.

How to get there
By tram: Number 8 (to Toorak Road), Number 72 (to Commercial/Malvern Road) or Number 6 (to High Street) from Swanston Street; or Number 78/79 to travel the length of Chapel Street (from North Richmond to Prahran/St Kilda).

By train: From Flinders Street Station, Sandringham, Frankston or Pakenham/Cranbourne lines to South Yarra Station or Sandringham line to Prahran Station (about 20 minutes).
